Home Care Assistance

How We Care

Our model of care is centred around highly personalised and flexible care plans designed to meet the individual and evolving needs of older Australians.
  • Hourly Care
  • 24 Hour Care
  • Hospital to Home
  • Specialised Care

Flexible care to fit your family’s needs

Home care services are provided on an hourly or around-the-clock basis. Our Carers provide support with the basics of everyday living but also have the training and experience to support those living with specific health conditions such as Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s. Carers are also experienced in supporting successful transitions between home and other facilities such as hospitals, respite facilities and more.

Home Care Assistance Carers are rigorously screened including full police checks for your peace of mind. Our Carers are experienced and passionate, and are monitored by our Client Care Managers who build trusted relationships with families to ensure the highest level of personalised care.

What kind of care do you need?

Care needs can be as unique as each person and can change over time. Home Care Assistance can provide the following types of care:

Hourly Home Care

Hourly home care allows for hiring our Carers on an hourly, or as-needed basis. By helping with daily activities, our Carers enable individuals to maintain their normal daily routines.

24 hour Home Care

24-hour care provides older adults with full-time, around-the-clock care, without the Carer living in the home. Those living with dementia or who are homebound due to physical limitations benefit greatly from 24-hour care. Families enjoy peace of mind knowing Carers are diligently monitoring safety, attending to daily needs and providing compassionate companionship.

Live-In Care

Live-in Carers are assigned to live with an older adult for a period of time and provide care directly in their own home. Live in Care can help with ensuring safety and consistent companionship.

Hospital to Home Care

One-on-one Hospital to Home care is crucial for a safe and successful recovery when transitioning home, after hospitalisation or moving through the care continuum via a rehabilitation or medical care facility.

In-Home Specialised Care

In-home care can provide one-on-one care appropriate for individuals requiring various levels of special care including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of care services do you offer?

Home Care Assistance offers home care on a daily and hourly basis. For more information visit our Care Services page.

In what areas of care do Home Care Assistance Carers specialise?

Our Carers are experienced and trained in the full array of specialised care requirements that commonly affect older adults. These include:

  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Dementia
  • Cancer
  • Rehabilitation
  • Orthopaedics
  • Stroke and other Neurological conditions
  • Palliative care
Why is Home Care Assistance good for older Australians?

Our experienced Carers provide safety, support and companionship.  They are highly skilled and specially trained in emotional support, nutritional guidance, fall prevention, brain-sharpening activities and even light physical activity. We go to great lengths to match the perfect Carer with the individual based on personality, life experience and commonalities.

What is Home Care?

Home care provides older Australians with one-on-one assistance from a trained carer in the comfort of his or her own home. With assistance from a Carer, seniors are able to live at home independently and maintain their quality of life. The personal attention they receive vastly improves their safety, health and happiness.

What is the difference between 24-hour care and hourly care?

With our 24-hour care service, Carers come in shifts and stay with the client around-the-clock, ready to assist with all activities of daily living and ensuring safety all hours of the day. 24/7 care provides service for those people who require close supervision at all times.

Hourly Care is exactly that care by the hour. From a
simple companion visit to transport to your GP or even meal assistance we can help with all areas of your daily activities.

What does it mean when you say “lifestyle” care?

By remaining at home, older family members are able to maintain the lifestyle they have been accustomed to despite needing some extra support. Staying at home with their own possessions and familiar surroundings, they are able to visit the same shops, restaurants, neighbours, parks and other familiar places that are known and loved.

Why is Home Care Assistance good for families?

Home Care Assistance brings peace of mind to families because your loved one is cared for by the best, most reliable Carers. On call to serve you 24/7, we eliminate the effort and worry of finding, screening, paying for and managing a Carer, therefore reducing stress for the whole family. Having an in-home Carer allows family members to enjoy quality time with their loved ones, instead of focusing on stressful day to day needs.

Do you have any brochures or videos to read/watch so that I can learn more about in-home care?

Yes, we have many resources on how in-home care can support a number of situations, including acute or chronic conditions. You will also find information about our programs, such as our Balanced Care Method, Cognitive Therapeutics Method and more.

What is respite care and how can it help family Carers?

Often, a family member or friend cares for an ageing loved one, but performing this role can add stress and pressure on the family relationships. Respite Care is temporary or hourly care designed to give family Carers a much needed break so they can take care of other priorities in their life and prevent burnout.

Home Care Assistance Carers provide excellent help at home. Can they assist in locations besides seniors’ home residence?

Yes. We can visit people anywhere they need care. During hospital stays, our hospital care team can provide around-the-clock companionship and monitoring for safety.

Many residents of Aged Care facilities also hire Home Care Assistance Carers to provide the personal one- to-one attention they deserve.

What happens if the assigned Carer is sick and can’t work?

If your Carer becomes ill or is unable to keep the scheduled visit, our staffing team will work to find you a qualified substitute carer for that time.

Do you have a service contract I have to sign?

There’s no service contract with Home Care Assistance. That means you can use our services for as little or as long as you need and with 100% satisfaction.

How does Home Care Assistance screen and hire Carers?

Home Care Assistance interviews 25 Carers for every one Carer that we hire. We start by requiring a minimum of two years of verifiable experience with excellent references.

Next, we conduct thorough background checks including local and national criminal records, driving record checks and verify eligibility for employment.

Home Care Assistance Carers are covered by workers’ compensation insurance.

How do you supervise Carers?

You don’t just hire a carer. You work with a full Care Team to ensure the highest standards of care are met. Before beginning home care services, the care team creates a schedule and a plan that covers all aspects of appropriate care, and the Carer is fully briefed on the plan. A Client Care Manager will also make regular Quality Assurance visits to ensure the quality of care is exceptional and make changes as needed.

What’s unique about the service provided by Home Care Assistance?

Our rigorous Carer selection process includes an exclusive psychologist-generated test that measures honesty and conscientiousness. We also have a PhD-developed Home Care Assistance program that is used to train Carers with proven techniques and skills for improving and prolonging seniors’ quality of life.

Our emphasis on providing long-term care from consistent, expertly matched Carers ensures quality in care and maintains familiarity and emotional stability.

Home Care Assistance specialises in 24 hour care, with Carers providing assistance, monitoring and companionship around-the-clock.

Our proprietary Balanced Care Method™ is a holistic approach to care based on the scientifically studied lifestyles of the longest living individuals in the world. Our Cognitive Therapeutics Method™ engages clients in fun and effective activities designed to promote long-term brain health.

What makes Home Care Assistance Carers such great Carers?

We start by attracting and hiring the best, most experienced Carers in the area. We screen them with the most comprehensive tests in the industry. But we don’t leave it at that. Home Care Assistance has developed exclusive training programs to provide nutrition and longevity-promoting techniques. We even have a monthly newsletter that keeps all of our Carers up-to-date on the latest insights in the home care industry.

Thanks to the team at Home Care Assistance Melbourne team for taking such care and compassion. The team genuinely cares and are there to support our family. Thank you.
I looked long and thoroughly before I selected a care provider for my husband who has dementia. Being with Home Care Assistance for almost a year, has confirmed all my expectations. And more. ... As a carer I feel very supported by David and Meg. They are always available by phone or email, and this means a lot. But perhaps the best quality of their organisation is the high calibre and personalised choice of all the care givers they have provided for us - whether it be someone to spend time with my husband or someone to slash our overgrown yard.I have no hesitation in recommending Home Care Assistance - and, indeed, have already done so.Pamela Payneread more

The carers who looked after my elderly mother were without exception highly motivated, caring and compassionate. Not only was Mum looked after supremely well, she was provided with wonderful... companionship, a level of independence that would have been impossible without the help of her special carers, and a lot of fun. It is difficult to put into words how much this meant to her entire family! Keep up the good work.read more

High quality, unique approach with a customised care plan to promote independence and client satisfaction.
As a former employee of this company working in the office and as a Carer, I cannot recommend this company enough. They genuinely care for their clients and employees. I loved working there with... Jeremy and his staff, but unfortunately had to leave due to relocation. I would not hesitate to recommend HCA Syd East to all clients who are aged and/or with disabilities to engage this service provider for all their vital services to enable you to live and enjoy staying in your own home and to be as independent as possible. Jeremy and his staff really listen to your needs, goals and aspirations and do their very best to match you up with a compatible and suitably qualified Carer. Nothing is too much trouble.read more
Our family has benefited from the excellent support and services from David, Meg and the team at Home Care Assistance North Coast for the past couple of years. I had an extensive list of questions... when we were deciding which provider to go with. David answered promptly, and impressed me with his empathy, accessibility (available after hours, weekends), and ability to tailor a package to meet our particular needs. Add to that the best value for package dollars, and it was an easy decision to go with HCA North Coast. The staff employed by HCA North Coast have been excellent. David was able to source staff who were a good match for my Dad’s personality. As our needs evolved, it was easy to change any aspect of the care provided. I am very happy to recommend Home Care Assistance North Coast, for anyone looking for quality care for their loved one.read more
Home Care Assistance run by Jeremy and Samantha, a lovely couple with a caring attitude and a family themselves. After bringing my Mum to Sydney and needing expert help immediately I found HCA online... and liked their story. As soon as they walked in our door, we knew we were safe. I liked the fact that there was direct contact with the owners and nothing was too much trouble. The carers selected for Mum were perfect for her and very capable. Unfortunately Mum has had to move to a nursing home now but I would happily recommend this wonderful business to anyone with aged care needs.read more
